Katie and I are on a workout spree. We got tired of being tired all the time, and I got tired of paying for our 24 Hour Fitness membership and using it only a few times a month. We paid what amounted to about $10 each per workout in January and February, and about $20 each per workout in March. So, we’ve made an agreement to work out at least one every other day or give up our memberships and become complete couch (and computer) potatoes. So far, we’ve done pretty well. Since we made the pact, we’ve worked out 3 times at the gym and made a 5 mile hike up in the San Gabriel Mountains. We’re both feeling the burn from some good workouts, but we’re also starting to feel better than we have in a while.
The weather here in Pasadena has helped to fuel the desire to get outside—I know that it going to be hot soon enough, so getting out to enjoy it now will help push me out the door once it’s become blazing hot. Contrary to popular belief, it does get hot here, with a few days over 100 being the norm each year in Pasadena and a even more frequent up in Simi Valley.
Tomorrow, Katie has to work the evening shift through to close, and I’m swamped at work (one of out top engineers left to move somewhere a little more cost effective, and I’ve taken over most of his duties, as well as continuing with mine). Since I’ll be working late anyway, I’m going to try and get out for an early evening hike, probably on this trail, which doesn’t mean much to those of you who don’t live in Southern California, but oh well.
I’ve also been logging my weight for the past week or so, including about 3 days before we started working out, so that I have a good real starting point. Not that I need to loose a lot of weight, I’m only a few lbs heavier than I was in high school, but I could afford to loose some fat and gain some muscle. I’ll try to get some kind of graph or something up on the site so that all you who don’t really care can see how the working out is going.
Alright. I just finished one hell of a Strawberry-Rasberry-Blackberry smoothie, so I’m about two hours late to bed. G’night.
