As expected, Nikon has released the specs for their new Digital SLR slated to hit stores in May or June. With a price tag below $900 (including the kit 18-50mm lens), the D50 drops in just below the current D70 and has a 6.1MP sensor just like the D70. The D70s, as expected, gets a new sensor, but still at 6.1MP(!). This was a bit of a suprise to me, and I’m sure a number of other people, as the nex rev of the D70 was expected to go over 8MP. In this respect, I’m kinda glad I didn’t wait for this new model and took advantage of the $200 rebate. The D70s has a bigger screen and the newer CCD, but other than this it seems the upgrades are limited to some new processing features and enhanced firmware. I can’t say that I’m overly impressed, but I’ll wait till DPreview gets their hands on the D70s and posts a full review before I go into too much Nikon-bashing.

I hate technology. I can never keep up with the upgrades.
