After 5 hours in the machine shop last night and an hour this morning, Photius is getting near taking its first steps.  I have both levels finished, the two attached using 2” hex standoffs, and the motors mounted and secure.  The Handy Board, the brains of the beast, is securely mounted on the top platform, just below where the turret will eventually be.  The 4.5” aluminum wheels have been turned on the lathe, and I have drilled some holes in them to decrease their weight.  If all is well, the machinist at the school should be drilling and tapping holes in the hubs of the wheels for set-screws.  I left it sitting on the counter, fairly well balanced, standing on its own two feet.  I just hope nobody picks it up, because those feet will easily fall off.  If time shows itself to me this weekend, we might have it walking by Sunday, granting there are no major problems with the HandyBoard, which is yet to be proven.
