Been playing with Mozilla Firebird on the Linux box, and I’ll have to say that I really like it. I don’t know if I like it enough to make the switch on the Win XP box, but its good and fast over here on Weissbier. The thing that keeps me hooked on Opera is the fact that you can hold down the left mouse button and click the right moue button for the “back” command, and the opposite for the “forward” command. This makes browsing through numerous sites simple and very fast. Opera also stores the whole page in cache, so that when you do go back 5 or 6 pages you don’t have to wait for each page to render again. One thing that I’ll give Mozilla is the tabbing system, which is another reason I love Opera – it has the same feature. If Mozilla would just get the mouse click shortcuts I’d probably switch. Mainly because Opera costs money and I like free stuff.
On a different note, Farris and I are working on a little project that he has mentioned over on his site, gentlenews.com. I won’t say any more than he already has, mainly because we would like to be some of the first geeks to figure this out. Check out Farris’s galleries for a little more of a hint into what we’re trying to do.
Also in the works are a few websites, Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church and that of my place of employment, Precise Circuits. Questions, comments, and snide remaks are welcome as always. These will be heavily worked on in the three days between the end of finals and when I leave for Alaska next Friday.
Farris and I are also talking about some kind of link list script that we’re going to work on, but I’m not sure exactly what I want yet. He wants to do it using flat text files, which I don’t have a problem with, I just need to learn how php handles that sort of I/O, since I always use MySQL. We’ll see what comes of it, but I’m not expecting something do be done about this until I Farris gets back from NYC and I get back from Alaska, granted that we haven’t forgotten it before then.
