I guess you get what you pay for. The 19” monitor that I raved about last night was DOA upon turning on the PC this morning. No static on the screen, seems like the High Voltage just quit. So BeauFun and I made a trip over the Fry’s this afternoon and I picked up the 19” ViewSonic Flat CRT. Its nicer than the other one, but of course it cost me more. I guess its a good thing that its a tax writeoff for my contract work. When its all over, I’ll have paid a little over $200 for a good monitor that I really need, so its not all that bad. My head already feels better just using the new one.
As if that wasn’t enough money to drop for the whole month, I took the Explorer in this morning because I’ve been having trouble with the front end. The verdict? Lower ball joints and lower A-Frame bushings need replacing. Since its a 4WD and I dont have the time or tools to take care of it, I have to let the shop ream me for about $600. Not the best way to make me happy.
Looks like the Alaska trip that was planned for the first weekend of August might be off. I really hate to pass up a once in a lifetime chance to go to AK for $150 round trip, but if I don’t have the cash, thats that. I’ll have to call Reinier and break the bad news.
On top of all that, I can’t get my new wireless card for my pda to work on the shcool’s network… it seems that they have found a way to block any hardware thats not Lucent or Intel. Sounds like someone’s getting kickbacks.
I guess that its wishing too much to hope that DSP makes my day better, but I can dream, right?
