With a little help from Josh, J-Dub, Beau, Daly, and my crazy neighbor, I got a 40M dipole up and running last night. For all of you who don’t know what that is, its an antenna used for communicting on the worldwide shortwave bands. I heard, but didn’t talk to, a guy in England early this morning. It’s fun stuff, if you’re into that sort of thing. Josh just got a really nice radio to talk worldwide, which has me itching to get one, but I really don’t need it. I have one small kit radio that I built in high school that will keep me busy for awhile. If I want more I always have the incredible station at the school. Speaking of the school, and the amateur radio club in particular, check out the new website I made up for that at ham.utdallas.edu.
On an entirely unrelated note, I saw this gun on CNN this morning – the thing fires a million rounds a minute. Thats pretty crazy stuff.
