In response to my last post, OneDay was incredible. You might have seen one of the many pictures that I took on the news page as you navigated here. I included some of them in the random images that come up on this page. However, only a few days after we returned from OneDay, Katie’s mother Denise passed away from complications due to the breast cancer she has been fighting for 3 years.

Leslie Denise McClung was a wonderful woman and will be missed by so many. An amazing teacher by trade, her students are the success story of her life, and will honor her memory as they continue to succeed. I know that in this time many want to ask what they can do to help, and both myself and the McClung family appreciate that very much. The truth however is that there is not much that can be done at this point but to be there for your friends when they need you. Life is so short and precious – don’t waste a minute of it.

The memorial service for Denise will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 2 at Oak Cliff Prebeterian Church at US Hwy 67 and Hampton in southern Dallas. The graveside service will follow immediately in Duncanville. If you know Katie, even if you didn’t have the opportunity to know her mom, feel free and come out to show her your support. I know that her family will appreciate it.
