Sunday, Marcos and I hiked most of the way up the San Gabriel’s Strawberry Peak via a rather untraditional route. We missed a turn and decided to take a ‘shortcut’ up a very steep gully. After an hour of scrambling up a 55-degree slope, we decided that our new route up the mountain probably wasn’t the best one. All in all, we had a good time. After our detour, we didn’t have time to summit, but we did get some rather spectacular views of the marine layer moisture on the Los Angeles side spilling over into the internal valleys of the San Gabriels.
I never even knew that had a name other than “fog like stuff”.
I especially like the shot of the guy standing out on the rock with his arms out.
