The Topanga fire, earlier called the Chatsworth fire, was 40% contained early Saturday after burning more than 24,000 acres across Southern California’s Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The firefighters have done an amazing job on this one; only 2 homes have been destroyed (latimes), and a break from the Santa Anas came only 24 hours after they began.
Another fire broke out Friday near Burbank; this one is much closer to us here in Pasadena than the other. We’re not in any danger – the fire would have to burn through two populated valleys and the Rose Bowl before it got here – but it was close enough that we could see the glow of the flames last night. An overview of all fires in CA can be found on the CDF Incidents page.
