Let It Snow
26 November 2005

We’ve finally had our first real cold front here in sunny southern California, which means that it’s finally snowing in the mountains. Not real snow, mind you, we had our fill of that last year and Ol’ Man Winter hasn’t blessed us with the real white stuff in any useful quantities yet. But, have no fear, snowmaking has begun at Mountain High as well as at Bear Mountain. If you’ve never seen snowmaking in action, it’s pretty neat to have a look at the time exposures and see a foot of the white stuff show up overnight. Conditions are supposed to be great for snowmaking through mid-week, so if you’re in SoCal and want to play in the white stuff, you may get your chance soon.

UPDATE: Mountain High has announced that it will be the first SoCal resort to open this season, opening Monday, November 28, 2005.
