Welcome to sunny Southern California. At this point, I’ve lost track of how much rain we’ve gotten since I moved here. I think that it is close to 4 feet, or will be by the end of the day tomorrow. It just keeps raining and raining and raining. I would make some crude Seattle joke but it is both too early and I don’t think that it rains this much even in Seattle. There is finally an end in sight, hopefully this will all stop by tomorrow night. The long range forecast models were showing yesterday that we might get a good high pressure ridge later this week that would stick around for awhile and keep the rain at bay, but in this morning’s run that high weakens and another cut-off low is a possibility around the end of this weekend. When this all started, I was pretty excited. Yay for rain in So Cal. No worries here about fires next summer, and even better, the mountains will get dumped. The problem is that, after dumping six feet of snow in the past couple of weeks, the air has become too warm in the last two days and now rain is falling on all that fresh powder. They are saying that the snow levels will drop tomorrow below the resorts, so hopefully that will happen in time to top off the wet base with a couple feet of the fresh white stuff. That might just lead to some real fun in the sun this weekend.
